GeoComunes

Logo Geocomunes

GeoComunes is a collective formed in 2014 and registered as a civil association in 2022, whose core activity is community-led and collaborative cartographic research.

Our aim is to strengthen the self-determination of urban and rural communities and peoples over their territory by highlighting the political dimension of the transformations and interests projected onto the territory, thereby strengthening preventive analysis and organisation for the community planning and management of the commons.

To this end, we develop tools for community organisation and territorial development, such as cartographic research, georeferenced databases, and analyses of local, regional or national issues. We also support community processes for territorial planning through participatory cartography, as well as by creating spaces for training and information generation.

Geocomunes is composed of various experts on community-led and collaborative cartographic research. The team supports Wealth & Space particularly in geospatial visualisations of corporate data at different scales and communication of scientific results on "Geographies of Wealth. Platform for Critical Research on Territorial Wealth".
